Richard Donald McLain & Deborah Lea (Wise) McLain

Rick and Debby passed away July 30, 1995 following a tragic accident during a charity motorcycle ride for children near Mount Rainier. Rick was born May 26, 1951 in Ephrata, WA. He was a graduate of Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor. For ten years Rick worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and for the past 15 years he has been a conductor for the Burlington Northern Railroad.   Labor issues were very important to Rick as he was the Vice President and Vice Local Chairman of UTU Local 556. He is survived by his sisters Lea McMurtry and Lynn Karwejma, Puyallup; Paulette and Mel Wilcher, Olympia; and La Donna Lenz, Yelm. Rick is also survived by half-brothers Jim and Todd McLain, Moses Lake. Debby was born in Fairbanks, AK on July 29, 1953. Following graduation from Washington High School in Tacoma, Debby trained and worked as a dental assistant. She held various part-time jobs so that she could focus her energies and talents around her family, home and church. At the time of Debby's death she was an Office Assistant in the Child Care Center and also in Student Programs at T.C.C. Debby enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in other activities of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Debby is survived by her mother, Evonne Wise, Tacoma; sisters Rebecca and Dennis Drewes, Puyallup, Kathie McLauchlan, Tacoma, Pam Wise and Beth Lolley, Seattle. Debby and Rick are survived by their children Jenny and Todd Maudlin, Keizer, OR; Morgen McLain of the home, and Rick's daughter and granddaughter Rachel McLain and Amber, of Puyallup. Debby and Rick are also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. They were preceded in death by Rick's parents, Margaret and Donald McLain; Debby's father, Pete Wise; and their nephew, Zach McLauchlan. In November Debby and Rick will have shared a love and marriage for 22 years.
